Induction Plus +

New to climbing and fancy an extra boost to get you started? 


An Induction Plus session is a bouldering crash course -in one hour, you will go over safety in the centre and learn basic techniques such as footwork, body positioning and movement on the wall that will really help you set off on the right track. 

​Price: £10 + Usual Entry (free kit hire)

Time//Date: Sundays, 3-4pm​​

Group size:  Maximum 6

Power Hour (and a half) - Beginners

The Beginners Power Hours are free weekly coaching sessions with one of our qualified instructors, aiming to lay down good habits, develop fundamental skills and get you climbing with the best possible foundation.

These sessions are aimed at new/beginner climbers, climbing tags '1-3' at Frome Boulder Rooms, or up to V3.

​

The topic of each Power Hour changes weekly, on an 8 week rotation and you can do as many or as few sessions as you want. 
 

Price: Usual entry fee (free kit hire)
Time//Date: Every Friday, 7-8.30pm

Booking: Call or ask at reception to book. Drop ins welcome if space is available. 
Group Size: Maximum 8  (16+ years)

Week 1: Climbing Fundamentals and Safety 
An introduction to the safe use of a bouldering centre and key skills needed on the walls.
Week 2: Footwork

Laying the foundations for excellent footwork technique on a variety of holds and angles.
Week 3: Body Position, Route Reading & Hold Identification
A session focussed on planning your route, identifying different hold types and how trhey affect your body positioning on the wall.
Week 4: Slab and Vertical Climbing

An hour and a half dedicated to the techniques needed to scale the more friendly (or not!) angled walls.
Week 5: Consolidation and Implementation
A recap of skills learned so far and implementing them on the wall.

Week 6: Steeper Ground

Learning the essential skills needed for overhanging terrain. 
Week 7: Endurance
Learning the usefulness endurance, how to do it well, and introduction to the circuit board.

Week 8: Projects
Got a project your stuck on? This session is dedicated to getting you past that sticking point!

Power Hour (and a half) - Intermediates

The Intermediates Power Hours are free weekly coaching sessions led by one of the FBR instructors, aiming to eliminate any bad habits you may have picked up, build on your good technique and push through the dreaded plateau! 
 

The Intermediate Power hours are aimed at those climbing tags '3-6' at Frome Boulder Rooms or around V3-V6.
 

The topic of each Power Hour changes weekly, on an 8 week rotation and you can do as many or as few sessions as you'd like.

Time//Date: Every Wednesday, 7-8.30pm

Booking: Call or ask at reception to book. Drop ins welcome if space is available. 
Group Size: Maximum 8  (16+ years)

Week 1: Back to Basics

A chance to go over some fundamental principals and chat to your instructor about your personal climbing and any goals you might have.
Week 2: Footwork
Developing more advanced techniques for excellent footwork on a variety of holds and terrain.

Week 3: Body Positioning & Route Reading

A session focussed on the importance of route reading on harder routes, and more advanced discussion on body position on the wall.

Week 4: Slab and Vert 

An hour dedicated to the harder slab and vertical blocs at FBR

Week 5: Consolidation and Implementation

A session with your instructor to recap techniques picked up so far, and finessing them.
Week 6: Steeper Ground 
Developing the skills needed for overhanging terrain.

Week 7: Endurance

How to have an efficient endurance session, using the circuit board for training, and lots of climbing!
Week 8: Projects

Focusing on sticking points, climbing niggles and tying off loose ends.​​​​​

private coaching

Private coaching is an excellent way to get tailored advice on how to develop your climbing. Whether you're new to the sport and have the bug, or an experienced climber who wants to push their climbing, our private coaching session will be tailored to your own ability and will help you develop the bouldering skills and techniques you want to learn.

All levels are welcome from complete beginners to advanced climbers. You will learn from our experienced team and they will pass on all their knowledge to take your climbing to the next level and give you the confidence to tackle those moves you never thought possible.
